After I’ve worked all day and its time for dinner, I am always looking for a simple, flavorful meal. Sometimes I think we forget that simple doesn’t have to be boring and flavorless. The base of this recipe starts with really good, high quality beef. Then there’s a a delicious sauce that is prepared for the beef.

I was introduced to Summerfield Farms 100% grass-fed, grass-finshed beef a couple of years ago and I was very impressed. The consumption of high quality, humanely raised beef is super important to me. This month I tried the Born and Grazed in the USA Box which includes kielbasa, hamburger patties and kabobs. It’s perfect for Labor Day!

Summerfield Farms is located in Guildford County in North Carolina. If you are local, you can order online and pick up in the store. If you are not local, you can have beef delivered to your doorstep as long as you are in the US.

A Few Reasons to Love Summerfield Farms Beef

  • Summerfield Farms cattle are humanely pastured. They are raised on mothers milk and grasses only with no added hormones, antibiotics, or steroids.

  • Summerfield Farms is AGA certified. They are 1 of 8 farms in North Carilina to hold this certification. Click here to learn more.

  • Their beef has 2 to 5 times more Omega 3’s than grain fed beef. The standard american diet typically does not have enough omega 3’s.

  • Their beef has higher levels of essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. In other words, it’s nutrient dense.

How to Make Sesame Ginger Beef

Mix the ingredients for the sauce. Heat a skillet frying pan over medium/high heat. Add the beef patties into the pan and break them up with a wooden spoon. Alternatively, you could use ground beef. Brown the beef for a few minutes, stirring occasionally. Make sure not to cook the beef completely.

Remove your beef from the pan and make sure to drain it. Remove the fat from the pan as well. Place the pan back onto the heat and add the sesame oil, followed by the beef. Then add the sauce. Cook the beef until the sauce thickens a little and the beef is coated. Serve with scallions and sesame seeds. I had mine with some jasmine rice and broccolini.

This sesame ginger beef is the perfect combination of savory and sweet. It takes less than 20 minutes to prepare making it the perfect weeknight dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of Summerfield Farms Beef Patties*
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce or tamari
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • Scallions for serving
  • Sesame seeds for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl mix all the ingredients except the beef patties and the sesame oil. Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium/high heat. Add the patties into the pan and break them up with a wooden spoon or tool of your choice. Cook the beef for about 3-4 minutes stirring occasionally so that it is browned. Make sure not to completely cook the beef.
  2. Remove the beef from the pan and drain it. Make sure to remove any fat from the pan as well. Add the sesame oil to the same pan, over medium heat. Then add the beef back into the pan, followed by the sauce mixture. Cook until the sauce thickens and the beef is coated. This should approximately 5 minutes or so. Once the beef is done, remove it from the pan and top with scallions and sesame seeds.

Notes:

*Alternatively you could use ground beef. You would need about 1.5 lbs of beef.
