About a year ago, I wrote a blog about what it's like to follow your dreams. At the time, this was a new concept to me, but I knew that it was an important concept. I had a feeling that some drastic changes were about to happen in my life. I had no idea what they were though. I had this feeling that something needed to change. I had just left my corporate job, and took a retail job. I really had no clue what I was doing, but I felt led to make that decision.
Sometimes I feel like we are led to believe that life has to be a certain way. Two years ago I thought that upon finishing undergrad, I would start an amazing job, make tons of money, travel a little and then start a family a few years later. That just wasn't reality for me and I am completely okay with that now. All I'm saying is, don't try to make someone else's reality yours.
Ever since I left my job a year ago, I've been following my heart. It hasn't been easy either. It's not easy to be led without really knowing where you're going, or what the outcome is going to be. Sometimes there are times when I feel defeated, and other times I'm so excited that I can't even contain myself. I feel confident knowing that God is leading me every step of the way though. For me, following my heart has meant that I say no to the things that I don't believe in. I take advantage of every meaningful opportunity that comes my way. I do what feels right. Most importantly, I only take part in things that align with my beliefs.
See, I believe that everything happens for a reason. You are reading this blog post for a reason. Maybe you want to know what it really means to follow your dreams. It's not cliche, I promise. I can't tell you what the pathway will look like for you. But I can tell you that it's one of the best feelings ever. You'll know it. All you have to do is take that first step and the rest will happen, with some hard work of course.
A couple of years ago, I made a lifestyle change. I lost a lot of weight, and then I started taking pictures of my food. Then I became a food blogger, by accident. I didn't know that this was part of the dream., but I'm thankful for everything hat has happened thus far. My terrible experience with my first job opened my eyes to all of the possibilites that are out there.
Today, Lively Meals is about more than taking pictures of my food. It's about letting God do His work in me, and manifesting it in any way that He sees fit. It's about making genuine connections. I'm not talking about people who tell me what I want to hear. I'm talking about people who want to see me become the best version of myself. Sometimes people can see things in you that you could never see yourself.
Lively Meals is about teaching this community that balance is key, in all aspects of life. If you want the cookie, eat the cookie. If you desire to have a huge bowl of pasta, then go for it. If you desire to sleep in a couple days of the week, then do it. Life is just too short to worry about the little things. Moving forward, I plan to be more transparent about all aspects of my life, not just the pretty food.
So far 2018 has been a whirlwind in a nutshell, but kind of in a good way though. There have been quite a few ups and downs but ultimately I'm thankful. Honestly, I am still not quite sure where I'm headed but I know that the outcome is going to be good. I'm going to keep following my heart, and following my dreams.
