This honey walnut chicken is one of my favorite weeknight dishes. It comes together in less than 30 minutes and it’s also super good. It tastes like its from a restaurant, only you made it at your house! How cool is that? I love to serve it up with some broccoli and rice, ( I serve everything with broccoli and rice). But honestly the possibilities are endless.

Why Walnuts?

No other reason that the fact they are super good. They get kind of caramelized in the honey sauce as they cook with the chicken. It’s a really great experience. They take on the flavor of the sauce and it’s just so good!

How to Make Honey Walnut Chicken

Cut the chicken into bite size pieces and then brown it in some olive oil. While the chicken is cooking, mix up the ingredients for the sauce. Make sure not to cook the chicken all the way through or it will be veryyyy dry. Nothing is worse than dry chicken right?

Remove the chicken from the pan, and then add the sauce into the pan. Once the sauce starts to bubble, add the chicken into the pan and cook until its well coated. This should take no longer than 5-6 minutes Once again, make sure not to cook the chicken too long.

instructions:

How to cook Honey Walnut Chicken

  1. Cut the chicken breast into bite sized pieces. Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Season the chicken lightly with salt and pepper to taste. Add the chicken into the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Don't cook the chicken all the way through. Remove from the pan.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the honey, rice vinegar, tamari, dijon mustard, garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using).  Reheat the pan the chicken was cooked in over medium heat. Add the green onions into the pan, followed by the honey sauce. Once the sauce starts to bubble, add the chicken back into the pan. Cook until the sauce thickens and the chicken is well coated. Stir frequently.  This should take around 5-6 minutes. Remove from heat and serve.
